PM Anwar Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Doha at Extraordinary Summit

Doha: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim delivered a powerful national statement at the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, decrying the recent Israeli airstrikes on the city. Emphasizing the severity of the attack, he described it as a lawless and barbaric act that constitutes an assault on Qatar's sovereignty and international law, threatening regional security.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar highlighted Qatar's crucial role as a mediator under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He warned that the attack on Qatar undermines efforts for peace, characterizing it as a calculated move against all nations in pursuit of Israeli Zionist objectives. He also drew attention to the ongoing suffering in Gaza, where families face unprecedented destruction, and noted the continuation of colonial politics in the West Bank.

The Prime Minister extended his condemnation to the broader pattern of violence in the region, citing attacks on Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and Iran. This, he argued, demonstrates a disregard for civilization and international order. He referenced Israel's stance against a Palestinian state as a declaration of permanent apartheid, which contradicts UN resolutions and self-determination rights.

Addressing nations with close ties to the United States, Anwar pointed out the particular responsibility they bear. He criticized Israel's militaristic responses to diplomatic efforts, such as the dialogue with Iran and mediation with Hamas. He stressed the urgent need for a humanitarian mission to Gaza, urging nations to ensure its success and to protect the oppressed and hungry.

Concluding his address, Prime Minister Anwar called for severe punitive actions, urging the cessation of diplomatic and trade relations with Israel to bring about change. He prayed for the courage and strength to act in defense of the oppressed.
