PM Anwar Congratulates Vijay On Election As Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his warmest congratulations to his friend and South Indian cinema icon Vijay on his election as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar, in his Facebook post today, mentioned that for many years, fans had watched Vijay defeat corrupt politicians and various villains within the span of a three-hour film, often punctuated by a short interval. "The people of Tamil Nadu have now entrusted Vijay with a responsibility far greater than any role performed on screen. 'Oru Viral Puratchi or the 'one-finger revolution' is now on the cusp of creating history," he said.

Anwar also highlighted the deep historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties shared between Malaysia and Tamil Nadu across generations. He expressed his anticipation of working closely with Chief Minister Vijay in the coming years.

Vijay, whose true name is Chandrasekaran Joseph Vijay, 52, recently transitioned from a prolific acting career to full-time politics. He led his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to a significant victory in the state elections, following in the footsteps of several legendary film figures in Tamil Nadu's political history.
