Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended his condolences to the family of former Bongawan assemblyman Datuk Karim Bujang, who died today at the age of 73. In a post on Facebook, Anwar said he had received the sad news of Karim's passing and prayed that his family would be granted strength and fortitude.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Karim died at his residence in Kampung Sipanggil, Putatan, Sabah, and was laid to rest at the Kampung Brunei Muslim Cemetery in Kimanis at about 5.30 pm today, after funeral prayers were performed at the Imam Abdullah Mosque in his hometown.

Karim served as the Bongawan assemblyman for five terms from 1990 to 2013 and is survived by his wife Datin Maimun Pg Bagul, two sons, and three grandchildren.
