PM Anwar Extends Chithirai, Vaisakhi And Vishu Greetings, Urges Unity

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has extended Chithirai New Year, Vaisakhi, and Vishu greetings to the Tamil, Sikh, and Malayalee communities in the country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a Facebook post today, Anwar expressed hope that the new year would bring peace of mind, lasting good health, and abundant blessings to those celebrating. He urged unity, emphasizing its importance for Malaysia to remain a prosperous and harmonious nation.

"In this spirit, let us continue to preserve unity with full awareness and responsibility so that Malaysia remains steadfast as a prosperous and harmonious nation. The diversity we inherit is the foundation that binds us together in a shared bond, with a spirit of mutual respect, understanding, and strengthening," the post said.

Tamil New Year marks the first day of the year according to the Tamil calendar, while Vaisakhi signifies the start of the harvest season in the Sikh and Punjabi calendars and is celebrated today. Vishu, which will be celebrated tomorrow by the Malayalee community, marks the beginning of the Malayalam calendar year and symbolizes renewal and prosperity.
