Kuala lumpur: In the Preliminary Estimate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the Second Quarter of 2026, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) announced that the performance was supported by growth in almost all economic sectors except the agriculture sector, which recorded a contraction. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Malaysia's economy grew 5.6 percent in the first half of this year compared to 4.5 percent in the same period in 2025. Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, expressed his gratitude for the slower inflation rate as well.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia stated in its report that Malaysia's inflation rate increased at a slower rate of 1.9 percent in June 2026 compared to 2.0 percent in the previous month. The slower increase was mainly due to the transport sector, which recorded an increase of 2.8 percent compared to 3.8 percent in May 2026.
