Bukit mertajam: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has hailed Bukit Mertajam Hospital's (HBM) global recognition as a Green Hospital as a proud achievement for Malaysia.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a social media post, Anwar stated that the recognition made HBM the only Malaysian hospital among the world's top 250 for sustainability initiatives. He remarked that this accomplishment showcases how excellence in healthcare can coexist with environmental responsibility and the safeguarding of public well-being. Anwar extended his congratulations to the hospital, stating, "Congratulations and well done!"

HBM received this recognition under Newsweek and Statista's World's Greenest Hospitals 2026 ranking. The Ministry of Health had previously announced that HBM was chosen from thousands of hospitals across 36 countries in the inaugural ranking, which acknowledges healthcare institutions for their dedication to climate-friendly healthcare and environmental sustainability.
