PM Anwar Hosts Gala Dinner for ASEAN, GCC, and China Leaders

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hosted a gala dinner in conjunction with the 46th ASEAN Summit, the 2nd ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, and the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, celebrating unity, diplomacy, and the region's cultural heritage. The event took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, where guests and delegates began arriving at 8 pm, followed by a video showcasing Malaysia's upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, notable attendees included leaders from ASEAN countries, Kuwait's Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the UAE's Supreme Council Member Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, and Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) provided a ceremonial welcome with a 25-minute instrumental ensemble as dignitaries arrived, symbolizing regional solidarity.

The evening commenced with a performance titled Ardi Bertuah by the PERMATA Seni Choir, featuring traditional Malaysian songs performed in songket costumes. This was followed by welcoming remarks from the master of ceremonies, Terrence Dass. The dinner showcased a vibrant cultural program, including a medley of ASEAN songs performed by Bob Yusof, Asmidar, and Yasmin Aziz, which received warm reactions from regional leaders.

Malaysian icon Datuk Zainal Abidin performed his hit Hijau, followed by a cultural performance Wira Perwara with the MPO and PERMATA Seni Tari troupe. Singer Shila Amzah delivered renditions of Wau Bulan and Zheng Fu, accompanied by cultural groups and the MPO.

Prime Minister Anwar expressed gratitude in multiple languages spoken across ASEAN, GCC, and China, with 'Thank You' displayed in all corresponding languages. The evening featured a 'Colours of Borneo' dance and performances by Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, culminating in a medley of Heal the World and Fight Song by MPO and PERMATA Seni Choir, as guests exited waving ASEAN, GCC, and China flags, marking a conclusion to the night celebrating friendship and unity.
