PM Anwar Ibrahim to Reveal Key National Announcements on August 30 and September 16

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to unveil several critical announcements, with one scheduled for the eve of National Day on August 30 and another during the Malaysia Day celebrations on September 16. Despite the anticipation, further details regarding the announcements remain undisclosed.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar conveyed his plans during the Temu Anwar session, held in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the Himpunan Anak Muda Antarabangsa (HAMKA) 2026. Responding to a student's inquiry about the government's efforts to protect the welfare and financial stability of youths in the gig economy, Anwar outlined the government's initiatives.

He revealed that the government is enhancing protections for gig economy workers by establishing the Malaysian Gig Economy Commission (SEGiM) and introducing a new bill to support small businesses. Anwar acknowledged that while some believe current assistance is inadequate, the government is steadfast in its commitment to the welfare of this group.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Anwar emphasized the government's intention to ease access to financing for graduates aspiring to start businesses. This includes opportunities through the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN). He noted that existing financing requirements, which demand a business track record, should be reconsidered given the evolving economic conditions and employment trends.

In summary, Anwar reaffirmed his commitment to listening and addressing the concerns of the youth, asserting that the government will strive to support them within its capacity.
