Putrajaya: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today launched the Public Service Talent Development Policy during the 20th edition of the Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA XX) gathering held here. The launch of the policy demonstrates the government's ongoing commitment to cultivating a highly skilled, innovative, and integrity-driven public service to meet future challenges and support the Malaysia MADANI agenda.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Public Service Department (JPA) emphasized that talent development is crucial for enhancing the efficiency, creativity, and professionalism of public servants. The policy aims to implement a merit-based performance evaluation, continuous skill enhancement, and the fostering of a high-performance and integrity-driven work culture. It also seeks to provide clear career pathways for leadership development while ensuring the public sector remains credible and capable of advancing the nation's reform agenda.
The JPA further explained that the policy outlines a systematic and integrated approach to talent development. This includes talent mapping at all service levels, large-scale leadership development programs, and the strengthening of strategic partnerships with higher education institutions, industries, and international organizations. Additionally, the policy leverages technology and data to monitor and drive talent development effectively.
MAPPA XX, themed "MADANI Civil Service: Pillar of Excellence," saw the participation of over 30,000 public servants both in person and virtually. Besides the policy launch, the event featured the MAPPA Cakna Inspirasi Forum, 43 service exhibition booths, and a prayer space accommodating 1,000 worshippers, symbolizing the integration of spiritual values and professionalism within the public sector.
The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, along with a lineup of Cabinet Ministers, including Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Public Service director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, and ministry secretaries-general were present at the ceremony held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
