Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening federal-state cooperation to ensure immediate and proactive action in addressing floods and the country's water management.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar shared in a Facebook post that he emphasized this commitment while chairing the seventh National Water Council Meeting, which is the highest platform for coordinating policies and the direction of water management between the federal and state governments. He highlighted the necessity for strong synergy and firm resolve between different government levels to effectively deal with disasters, pledging to enhance cooperation for comprehensive solutions and ensuring the close monitoring and prompt implementation of flood mitigation projects.

During the meeting, Anwar also reviewed the current status of floods affecting several states and expressed appreciation for the efforts of front-line responders at all government levels who have been dedicated to assisting victims. He took the opportunity to commend these responders for their commitment to helping people impacted by the disaster.

Furthermore, Anwar noted that the meeting included a detailed briefing on the operational status of dams and water resource management across the country. This briefing aimed to ensure that all infrastructure remains at an optimal, safe, and resilient level. Anwar expressed confidence that the decisions made during the meeting would be translated into immediate and proactive actions to safeguard the welfare, safety, and well-being of the people.
