Putrajaya: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to deliver a significant address to Malaysia's civil servants during the 20th edition of Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA XX) gathering at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), tomorrow.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Saharah Sapiyi, Head of the Centre for Communication and Language Studies at the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN), stated that the Prime Minister will deliver the address at 3.30 pm, marking the highlight of the annual event. MAPPA XX serves as a key platform for the Prime Minister to engage directly with civil servants and communicate his aspirations for the nation. Typically, this is where major announcements related to the civil service are made.
Last year, the Prime Minister unveiled the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), and this year, new announcements are expected, including the launch of the Public Service Talent Development Policy, which will guide heads of departments and agencies in developing talents in their respective organisations. This information was shared by Saharah during a video call on Bernama TV's Malaysia Petang Ini programme.
Saharah mentioned that this year's MAPPA is being held under the theme Perkhidmatan Awam MADANI Teras Kecemerlangan (MADANI Civil Service: Pillar of Excellence), which reflects Malaysia MADANI values guiding current governance reforms. The event emphasises the civil service reform agenda led by the Chief Secretary to the Government, alongside values-driven service excellence promoted by the Director-General of Public Service.
Furthermore, Saharah noted that before the main address, civil servants attending MAPPA XX are invited to join Tazkirah Jumaat (religious reflection session) starting at 12.45 pm, followed by Friday prayers at Dewan Putra, PICC, which can accommodate up to 1,000 congregants.
In conjunction with MAPPA XX, the Cakna Inspirasi Forum at 2.30 pm will focus on social media and the spirit of independence. The event will also feature 43 exhibition booths showcasing ministries, government agencies, and departments from 9 am to 5 pm. These will include counters for traffic summons payment and discounts, as well as admission offers from higher education institutions.
