Putrajaya: A high-stakes meeting between the leaders of Thailand and Cambodia is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Putrajaya, aiming to negotiate a ceasefire between the two nations, as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The meeting is set for 3 pm, where Anwar will mediate discussions critical to halting the ongoing conflict.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prime Minister Anwar revealed that both governments have requested his assistance in brokering a peace settlement. He emphasized the urgency of achieving an immediate ceasefire, stating that the negotiation will focus on discussing the parameters and conditions presented by both parties. Anwar is expected to chair the negotiations, which have gained international attention following appeals from US President Donald Trump and China, urging both nations to resolve the crisis.

Anwar mentioned that a team from Malaysia, along with possibly some representatives from neighboring countries, will oversee the discussions to ensure their successful execution. He expressed hope that the talks would be fruitful, emphasizing the importance of aligning parameters for peace. The Foreign Minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are reportedly working diligently to ensure clarity in the negotiations, given the complexities involved when active conflicts are ongoing.

The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of maintaining peace in ASEAN, known for being one of the world's most peaceful regions and fastest-growing economies. He expressed pride in the regional stability and stressed the importance of halting the conflict to preserve this reputation.
