PM Anwar Urges MPs to Embrace Respectful Debates in Parliament

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Members of Parliament (MPs) to foster a culture of respectful and civilised debate in the Dewan Rakyat, free from insults and profanity.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar expressed his admiration for the participants of the 2025 Prime Minister's Cup Debate Finals, commending their eloquence, confidence, thoughtful use of facts, and measured arguments. He highlighted these qualities as ones that parliamentarians should emulate.

Anwar remarked on the impressive quality of debate demonstrated by the young participants, noting that Members of Parliament could learn from their mastery of knowledge, analysis, and effective presentation. He emphasized that debate is not only about speaking well but also about understanding, analyzing, and articulating ideas clearly.

Additionally, Anwar, who also serves as the Minister of Finance, praised the current generation of students for their strong command of the Malay language and their ability to engage in discussions with depth, knowledge, and understanding.
