Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's recent reminder to enhance planning and project execution across all ministries has set the stage for heightened government efficiency in the coming year. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil conveyed that this directive was aimed at ensuring that government projects truly serve the public interest.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi emphasized that the reminder targets not only the ministries but also ministers, deputy ministers, chief secretaries, and administrative teams. He highlighted the timely nature of the reminder as budget settlements for many ministries are scheduled to commence in early January. Fahmi shared these insights at the Ministry of Works monthly assembly, which was broadcast live at the Ministry of Communications. The event was also attended by Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, Communications Ministry Chief Secretary Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
Fahmi further articulated that the Prime Minister's emphasis on thorough planning reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that public spending and project implementation are aligned with their intended schedules and budgets. He stressed that government projects, whether they involve infrastructure like bridges or services like internet access, should have a meaningful impact on national unity and the well-being of citizens.
The minister underscored the importance of looking beyond mere compliance with key performance indicators (KPIs), advocating for a focus on the tangible positive impacts of government initiatives. He encouraged all involved to approach their roles with diligence and purpose, inspired by the broader implications of their work for society.
During the assembly, Anwar highlighted that the true success of a MADANI nation is measured by how well the values of compassion, kindness, and responsibility are reflected in governmental actions, rather than just economic growth or infrastructure advancements. He asserted that delivering effective and timely solutions that meet the needs of the people should be the primary focus of government projects.
