PM Makes Personal Donation To Mohd Yazid’s Family

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today made a personal donation to the family of Istana Budaya Traditional Orchestra conductor Mohd Yazid Zakaria, who died at Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital yesterday. The contribution was presented by Negeri Sembilan Development director Datuk Noor Ihsan Che Mat, who visited the family home in Taman Paroi Jaya here.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Noor Ihsan Che Mat conveyed the Prime Minister's condolences, stating, "The Prime Minister is deeply saddened by his passing and hopes this contribution will, in some way, help ease the family's burden." Mohd Yazid, aged 57, leaves behind his wife, Norlilawati Mohd Kasim, 54, and five children. Notably, his eldest daughter is set to be married this Saturday.

Mohd Yazid was recognized as Tokoh Pekerja Negara (Public Service Category) during the 2024 Workers' Day celebration and also led the performance during the ASEAN Gala Dinner held in conjunction with the 47th ASEAN Summit. When met, Norlilawati expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the concern and assistance extended by various parties to her family.

She shared that her late husband had not been suffering from any illness but had recently been busy with a heavy workload and had complained of numbness in his hands. "He was very dedicated and had served Istana Budaya for over 20 years," she said. Norlilawati added that their daughter's wedding would proceed as planned but would be held on a modest scale.

Meanwhile, their second child, Irfan Syahidi, 25, mentioned that his late father had been looking forward to his sister's wedding.
