Kuala lumpur: Politeknik Merlimau Melaka Politeknik Merlimau Melaka (PMM) continues to strengthen its innovation culture after winning two Silver Awards at the National Horizon New Innovative and Creative Group Convention (KIKHB) for Malaysian Polytechnics 2026.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, PMM director Norizam Sekak said the achievement reflected the institution's commitment to promoting research, innovation, and creativity in line with efforts to advance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) excellence. "At the convention held at Politeknik Seberang Perai, Penang, from July 13 to 15, PMM was represented by two innovation groups, both of which won Silver Awards," he stated.
The Smart Tutor group from the Mathematics, Science and Computer Department (JMSK) received the award for its project 'CalcCraft Innovator: Adventure with Kashah', while the Sajideen Innovators group from the General Studies Department (JPA) was recognized for the 'Solat Smart Board (SSB)' project. Norizam emphasized that this achievement would motivate PMM to continue developing high-impact innovations that benefit the institution, community, and country.
He highlighted PMM's efforts in extending the impact of its research through the Innovation to Community (IN²C) programme at Masjid Asy Syujaah, Merlimau Utara, aimed at transferring technology and innovation to the local community. Among the highlights of the programme was a demonstration of the 'Duolift Trolley with Hookchain', an innovation designed to facilitate the safer and more efficient lifting and movement of heavy loads, particularly for mosque management.
"The programme reflects PMM's commitment to sharing knowledge, technology, and innovation with the community, while strengthening strategic collaboration between educational institutions and society. We hope the innovations introduced can be fully utilized by the mosque authorities and encourage more collaborations that create a positive impact on the community," Norizam added.
