Kuala lumpur: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has advanced past the halfway mark in its seat-sharing negotiations among its component parties for the Johor state election, as stated by PN information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa. The discussions, held at a PN seat-sharing committee meeting, involved each party presenting their desired seats in a session overseen by PN election director-general Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Annuar Musa mentioned that several seats without overlap have been finalized, while those with overlapping interests will be addressed in a follow-up meeting scheduled for tomorrow at 10 am. He further indicated that PN aims to announce the results of these negotiations on Thursday, following their presentation at the PN main meeting.
In related developments, Muhammad Sanusi confirmed that all parties will be contesting under the PN logo for the Johor state election. He emphasized that the current negotiations are solely focused on the use of the PN logo. When questioned about the involvement of newly approved PN members Pejuang and Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM), Sanusi acknowledged that these parties had submitted their seat preferences, but a final decision would be taken by PN.
The Election Commission (EC) has designated June 27 as the nomination day for the Johor state election, with early voting set for July 7 and polling day slated for July 11.
