Melaka: Perikatan Nasional (PN) is open to and ready to hold negotiations with Barisan Nasional (BN) ahead of the Melaka state election, its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said. Although no discussions had taken place between the two coalitions so far, he mentioned there was still ample room for negotiations given that the date for the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly had yet to be determined. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Samsuri expressed that if BN is prepared to discuss, PN is also ready to engage in discussions, ideally before the Melaka assembly is dissolved. He spoke to reporters after officiating the 23rd Perak PAS Convention at Hotel Perdana Taiping, in the presence of Perak PAS Commissioner and PAS vice-president Datuk Idris Ahmad. Earlier in his speech, Ahmad Samsuri stated that based on his analysis, cooperation between PN and BN had the potential to form the state government in the coming state election, with an estimated 75 per cent chance of victory . He noted that the journey towards this goal would not be straightforward and would require prudence, tolerance, and patience, as it will be filled with challenges. He emphasized that this cooperation could be a significant game changer, potentially transforming their position from being in the opposition to becoming the government. However, he indicated that the details of how a new form of cooperation would manifest into governance remain to be seen.
