Kuala lumpur: Police have never stopped investigating the disappearance of activist Amri Che Mat and Pastor Raymond Koh, stated Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. He emphasized that the investigation into these high-profile cases is ongoing, aligning with the court's directive for continued police action.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Saifuddin Nasution highlighted at a press conference, following the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) Symposium, that the police have never halted or closed these cases. The court had recently ordered the police to present Pastor Koh publicly and imposed a financial penalty of RM10,000 per day for non-compliance.

Saifuddin Nasution mentioned that the government is cognizant of the financial implications and is addressing them through appropriate channels. He noted that the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) has filed an appeal due to the significant financial burden involved. The appeal process is being respected as it unfolds.

Amri Che Mat was reported missing on November 24, 2016, while the disappearance of Pastor Raymond Koh was reported on February 13, 2017. Last month, on November 5, the court ruled that the government must pay a total of RM3,264,457.52, including costs and interest, to Amri's wife, Norhayati Mohd Ariffin. Additionally, the government was ordered to pay over RM37 million to Pastor Koh's wife, Susanna Liew. These decisions followed the court's acceptance of lawsuits filed by the women against the government and police concerning their husbands' disappearances.
