Kuala lumpur: The police (PDRM) will take appropriate action to verify claims that fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low, was in the country at the end of last year. Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said police had yet to confirm the authenticity of the allegations involving the fugitive businessman.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Khalid stated, "We have not been able to verify the extent of the authenticity. Appropriate action will be taken to determine whether the matter is true or otherwise." He emphasized that investigations are still ongoing and assured that it is the responsibility of the police to ensure the process is carried out properly and smoothly. These statements were made to reporters during the Autism Day celebration organized by the Pengaman-PDRM Autism Centre at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (PULAPOL).
Mohd Khalid was responding to an article by Sarawak Report, which alleged that Jho Low attended a secret meeting in Malaysia with a delegation from China at the end of last year. He mentioned that PDRM would issue an official statement should there be any new developments regarding the matter.
Earlier at the event, Mohd Khalid spent time with children from the Pengaman-PDRM Autism Centre, which provides educational facilities and support for police personnel and the local community. He noted that the centre, currently catering to about 50 children, receives full support from PDRM through facility provisions and welfare fund assistance, helping to ease the financial burden on affected families.
Meanwhile, committee chairman Tan Sri Hussin Ismail highlighted the rapid growth of the centre since its establishment in 2020 with support from various parties.
