Police Officer Remanded for Alleged RM20,000 Bribe in Traffic Case

Sungai petani: A police officer suspected of soliciting and receiving a bribe of approximately RM20,000 to alter a charge in a traffic case has been remanded for four days starting today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the officer, who is in his 30s, was arrested at around 12.50 pm yesterday during a raid at an eatery in Sungai Petani. An MACC source revealed that preliminary investigations indicate the officer received about RM2,000 in cash in mid-December last year. It is alleged that the suspect requested an additional RM20,000 from the victim before being apprehended.

Kedah MACC director Datuk Nazli Rasyid Sulong confirmed the arrest and ongoing investigation, stating that the case is being scrutinized under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
