Simpang ampat: The police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that killed a woman pedestrian while she was crossing a road in a hit-and-run incident in Simpang Ampat here yesterday. South Seberang Perai district police chief Supt Jay January Siowou reported that the crash occurred at 7.35 pm as the woman was crossing from Taman Belibis to Simpang Ampat before she was struck by an unidentified vehicle.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the woman sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body was transported to Sungai Bakap Hospital for an official determination of the cause of death. Authorities are currently working to identify the woman and are reviewing closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area. They are also seeking independent witnesses and the vehicle involved to aid in the investigation, which is being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
