Police Seek Interpol Assistance in Sarawak Convenience Store Attacks

Kuching:Sarawak: Police are seeking help from international law enforcement agencies, including Interpol, to locate individuals believed to have fled the country after being linked to recent attacks on convenience stores in various parts of Sarawak.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, also the Royal Malaysia Police Management Department director, stated that three individuals have been arrested, and roughly 10 others have been identified as part of the involved group.

The attacks are suspected to have originated from a business dispute, particularly concerning the sale of top-ups allegedly used for online gambling. Police have also uncovered the misuse of business licenses by some stores involved in selling these top-ups and plan to inform local authorities for further action.

On September 21, Mohamad Zainal revealed that police were pursuing suspects related to the attacks on convenience stores in Kuching and Sri Aman on September 20. These incidents involved objects believed to contain explosive or flammable materials being thrown into the premises, with two reports received detailing a similar modus operandi.

In a separate investigation, Mohamad Zainal mentioned that police are nearing completion of their investigation into the Air Medical Services helicopter crash in Long Lellang. While the cause is yet to be determined, there is no indication of sabotage, and technical issues are suspected. The Air Accident Investigation Bureau will announce its findings.
