Kapit: The police have appealed to those with missing relatives or friends to identify the body of a man found floating in the Rajang River, Kapit, today. Kapit Police chief DSP Rohana Nanu said a member of the public alerted police to the discovery of a floating body at 11.25 am near Wharf Kapit.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, by the time police arrived, the body was believed to have been swept away by strong currents before being recovered by the Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Force (APM) at Teluk Selindung at 12.10 pm, about five kilometres from Wharf Kapit. The body was subsequently sent to Kapit Hospital for further action.
Rohana described the deceased as approximately 170 centimetres tall, with light brown skin and believed to be in his 40s. The man had a koi fish tattoo on the front of his right thigh and two 'terung Iban' (sour eggplant) tattoos on the front of both shoulders.
