Politeknik Kota Belud Set for Completion by 2031, Says Zambry

Kota belud: The government is committed to ensuring that the construction of Politeknik Kota Belud is completed by 2031, said Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir. He emphasized that this effort is not just about reviving a project delayed since 2018, but also about rejuvenating hope among the residents of the district and the broader west coast division of Sabah. The establishment of a modern Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution is expected to act as a catalyst for future development in the region. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zambry stated that the reconstruction of Politeknik Kota Belud represents the government's resolve to effect meaningful change, enhance youth skills, and foster the growth of new industries in the area. In a Facebook post, Zambry also highlighted the strategic role the polytechnic is set to play in developing a skilled talent ecosystem and creating new employment opportunities. He outlined three high-impact areas that will be t he primary focus: information technology based on artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and smart agricultural technology. These areas are aligned with the direction of the 13th Malaysia Plan, the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, and the National Energy Transition Roadmap. This alignment is intended to ensure that Sabah not only keeps pace with global trends but also leads in driving transformation. Zambry expressed hope that the polytechnic will fulfill the education and training needs of future generations, produce a highly skilled workforce, and serve as an innovation hub supporting the economic development of Kota Belud and Sabah as a whole.
