Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated that only with political stability can the government focus on implementing various programmes to develop Sabah and the country, particularly in efforts to help the people.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Anwar emphasized the need for political stability in both Sabah and the entire country to ensure that leaders can concentrate on fulfilling the people's aspirations. He expressed gratitude to Sabah's Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, for fostering a calm political environment, which he deemed crucial for achieving stability. Anwar highlighted that such stability enables the government to focus on industrial plans and address global technological disruptions caused by advancements like artificial intelligence.
Anwar conveyed these sentiments during the Sabah state-level MADANI Breaking of Fast event, also attended by Hajiji, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, and Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Datuk Ewon Benedick. He urged national leaders to adopt a cooperative attitude to enhance existing collaborations, ensuring rapid progress and development for Sabah and Malaysia.
The Prime Minister criticized leaders who engage in disputes over cultural and language issues, emphasizing the need to address pressing concerns like poverty and infrastructure. He recounted discussions with Hajiji about assisting the hardcore poor and improving road conditions, praising the Chief Minister and his team for their dedication.
Anwar also engaged in talks with the Chief Minister, state executive council members, and senior Federal and state officers about ongoing projects in Sabah, such as roads, schools, and clinics. He stressed the importance of promptly implementing these projects to benefit the people of Sabah.
He envisioned a future where collective efforts could propel Sabah to greater heights, urging sincerity and an end to disputes. Anwar highlighted the potential for Sabah to become more advanced within a short time frame if unity and hard work prevail.
Finally, Anwar acknowledged Sabah's unique strength in its diverse population, capable of living and working together harmoniously. He called for these qualities to be strengthened and preserved for future generations.
