Daegu: The success of the Polytechnic and Community College (POLYCC) Robotics Team at the 30th FIRA Roboworld Cup and Summit 2025 in Daegu, South Korea, is expected to inspire and motivate students to excel in their respective fields.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Polytechnic and Community College Education Department (JPPKK) Deputy Director-General (Planning) Dr. Shamsuri Abdullah highlighted that the achievement should be sustained and further built upon through the experience gained by participants throughout the tournament. He expressed his congratulations to everyone involved for enabling the POLYCC team to achieve such success.
The team brought home a total of 13 medals, comprising five gold, three silver, and five bronze, across four categories: HuroCup, Autonomous Car Challenge, Air-Drone Autonomous Race, and Air-Drone Emergency Service. This achievement surpassed their initial target of 10 medals.
The delegation consisted of 16 students and five accompanying lecturers from four polytechnics: Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic (PSAS), Sultan Idris Shah Polytechnic (PSIS), Port Dickson Polytechnic (PPD), and Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Polytechnic (POLISAS). The group, which competed from August 11 to 15, returned home yesterday and was welcomed by Dr. Shamsuri at the Arrivals Hall of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.
For the record, the PPD team received the Best Technical Startup Award in the Innovation and Business category at the FIRA Roboworld Cup 2024 in Maranhao, Sao Luiz, Brazil. Meanwhile, in 2023, the PSAS and PSIS teams dominated the HuroCup category at the FIRA Roboworld Cup in Wolfenbttel, Germany, each securing one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
