Recursion: Recursion (Nasdaq: RXRX), a clinical-stage TechBio company, announced positive results from the ongoing TUPELO trial of REC-4881, an investigational MEK1/2 inhibitor for familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Phase 1b/2 data showcased rapid and durable reductions in polyp burden at 25 weeks. REC-4881 was identified through an unbiased phenotypic screen of thousands of compounds, using the Recursion OS. This screening process highlighted selective MEK1/2 inhibition as a mechanism capable of reversing APC loss-of-function signatures.
The AI-driven approach enabled the identification of REC-4881 as a strong phenotypic rescue candidate, capable of reverting APC-deficient cells to a healthier state and suppressing ERK/MAPK hyperactivation caused by APC loss. Recursion, having in-licensed REC-4881 from Takeda, redirected its application from solid tumors to a new therapeutic avenue for FAP, marking it as the first MEK1/2 inhibitor studied clinically for this disease.
