Kuala lumpur: The Communications Ministry, through the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), is finalising the process of channelling RM50 million for the establishment of the Postal Service Fund. Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced this strategic initiative, which aims to ensure the sustainability and continuity of postal services across Malaysia, particularly in rural areas, in line with the country's commitment as a member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the fund will be managed by Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) and is designed to support the transformation of the postal sector. This initiative seeks to maintain the relevance, sustainability, and competitiveness of postal services in the era of communication and e-commerce. Under the Universal Service Obligation framework, the fund will be integrated with courier services to strengthen Pos Malaysia's core operations, preparing them to face challenges over the next several decades.

Minister Fahmi Fadzil expressed confidence that the fund will further support Pos Malaysia's efforts in transforming the industry and enhancing their services. He made these remarks during a press conference following the launch of Redly Pos Malaysia International, an event held in conjunction with World Post Day 2025 at the National Mail Centre.
