Power Supply Restored to Sabah’s East Coast After Landslide-Induced Outage

Kota kinabalu: Electricity supply to Sabah's east coast, which was disrupted since last Saturday, has been fully restored at 10.20 pm tonight, announced Sabah Electricity chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Yaakob Jaafar.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Mohd Yaakob Jaafar, in a statement, expressed gratitude towards the frontline personnel and support teams for their relentless efforts to resolve the issue. He also appreciated the consumers for their patience during the disruption period.

The power outage was triggered by a landslide in Kampung Kolopis, Penampang, which caused the collapse of a transmission tower on the 275KV Kolopis-Segaliud line, impacting both Line 1 and Line 2. To address this, a replacement tower was constructed and successfully brought online tonight.

The transmission line plays a crucial role as it connects Kampung Kolopis on Sabah's west coast to Segaliud in Sandakan on the east coast, thereby ensuring power stability across both regions.
