Kuala Lumpur: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed confidence today that Malaysia will be able to resolve long-standing border and labour issues with Indonesia in an orderly and efficient manner. He said while the issues of borders and labour have been a topic of discussion between the two neighbouring nations for some time, they can be addressed effectively with the leadership's political will to cooperate.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Prabowo emphasized that technical problems can be resolved if there is political and strategic will. He stated during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that border issues and bilateral labour matters can be settled if both countries agree to manage them in an orderly fashion.
The press conference came after a private meeting and bilateral talks between Prabowo and Anwar at the PETRONAS Twin Towers. Prabowo noted that the two leaders had reached an agreement on these matters during their discussions.
Prabowo also highlighted the importance of strong cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia amid current global geopolitical tensions and uncertainties. He stressed the need for Malaysia and Indonesia to strengthen their synergy with ASEAN partners, suggesting that only through excellent collaboration can their collective voice be heard more effectively.
