Kuala lumpur: Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (Prasarana) has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chongqing Rail Transit aimed at bolstering strategic cooperation to improve monorail operational capabilities, system reliability, and technical expertise.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MoU was signed on July 9 at Menara Prasarana, with Prasarana's Group President and CEO, Amir Hamdan, and Chongqing Rail Transit Chairman and General Manager, Hu Zhiyong, formalizing the agreement. This collaboration focuses on exchanging best practices in system reliability and asset management, operational digitalization, data analytics, predictive maintenance, and operational and safety standards. Additionally, the partnership aims to enhance workforce competency through joint training programs, technical visits, and expertise sharing.

Amir highlighted that the partnership is pivotal in providing Prasarana with enhanced access to global best practices in rail system reliability, maintenance strategies, and operational efficiency. "This knowledge-sharing partnership is crucial to ensuring commuters continue to enjoy safer, smoother and more reliable services," he stated.

The collaboration with Chongqing Rail Transit, a leading global monorail operator, is expected to strengthen the operational ecosystem of the Kuala Lumpur Monorail, which has been serving commuters for over two decades, by integrating technological advancements and international best practices. As part of the agreement, a delegation from CRT visited the Kuala Lumpur Monorail Depot to observe Prasarana's daily operations and maintenance practices.

Prasarana clarified that the MoU establishes a framework for exploring strategic collaboration opportunities without involving financial commitments at this stage. It also sets up a joint communication mechanism to coordinate the implementation of initiatives and periodically assess the partnership's progress.

The statement further emphasized that through this partnership, Prasarana and CRT share the objective of enhancing the operational excellence of the monorail system, thereby offering safer, more efficient, and sustainable public transport services to the community. Both organizations are committed to achieving these shared goals, enhancing the operational excellence of the monorail system to deliver more reliable public transport services.
