Sri aman: Police investigations found no evidence of third-party involvement in the killing of a married couple found dead at their home in Sri Aman on Jan 14. Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah stated that statements have been recorded from 30 witnesses, including family members, friends, colleagues, and neighbors.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, police had received chemical and pathology reports from the post-mortem examinations of both victims. "(Based on our investigation) I can conclude that this case has been completed, and the examination of the weapon used found only the DNA of the two victims, with no other foreign DNA," Mohamad Zainal said. He further explained that no signs of a break-in or missing valuables were found, nor evidence of a robbery, leading to the conclusion that the killing involved only the two victims.
Mohamad Zainal expressed confidence that no further investigation was required. However, the case could not yet be classified as no further action (NFA) as police were still awaiting forensic reports on the mobile phones of both victims. "Witness statements also found that the male victim (the husband), after being transferred to a new school as headmaster, had experienced depression. Perhaps through the forensic reports on their phones, we can find out more and determine the motive," he added.
On Jan 14, Mohamad Zainal confirmed that a headmaster and his wife were found dead in their house on Jalan Brayun with serious injuries. Post-mortem results indicated the husband sustained 11 injuries from a sharp object involving the neck and chest, while the wife suffered a stab wound to the neck.
