Procurement Underway For Dual-Function Flood And Security Wall – Kelantan DID

Kelantan: Phase 2 of the Sungai Golok Integrated River Basin Development Project (PLSB) is now in the procurement stage, as stated by Kelantan Department of Irrigation and Drainage director Dr. Siti Fairus Zakaria. An open pre-qualification tender for the design-and-build package is currently underway, with the Letter of Acceptance anticipated in the first quarter of 2026.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the project scope includes the construction of a 20-kilometre flood embankment along the left bank of Sungai Lemal-Lanchang. The project also features a dual-function wall extending 42.5 kilometres from Kampung Lanchang to Sungai Ayer Lanas, traversing the districts of Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, and Jeli.

Dr. Siti Fairus highlighted that the dual-function wall is designed to serve as a flood-protection barrier integrated with security features, aimed at strengthening border control on the Malaysia-Thailand border. Its construction is expected to bolster flood-mitigation efforts along the Sungai Golok stretch, thus reducing the risk of overflow that frequently impacts nearby settlements.
