Proudly Wave The Jalur Gemilang In Solidarity On National Day – DPM Ahmad Zahid

Kuala lumpur: Malaysians were urged today to proudly wave the Jalur Gemilang in celebration of the nation's 68th National Day, while reinforcing the spirit of unity and brotherhood among one another. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the country's independence, achieved and preserved until today, can only be safeguarded by a united, harmonious and respectful society.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ahmad Zahid emphasized that the true strength of Malaysia lies in its foundation built upon unity and the sacrifices of its people. He highlighted that this year's celebration of independence is a tribute to all Malaysians who remain steadfast in protecting and defending the beloved homeland. This message was conveyed in a Facebook post in conjunction with the 68th National Day.

Ahmad Zahid also discussed this year's National Day theme, 'Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni,' noting that genuine independence is defined not just by freedom from colonial rule, but by the extent to which the people are cared for and their well-being protected. As the Rural and Regional Development Minister, he reflected on how August 31 remains a pivotal moment in history, marked by the 'Merdeka!' declaration in 1957 and the formation of Malaysia in 1963.

He concluded by stating that the day serves as a powerful reminder of a nation's ability to rise with dignity, strength, and confidence after being colonized.
