Public More Attentive to Jalur Gemilang Details, Says Communications Minister

Kuala lumpur: More Malaysians are becoming aware of the Jalur Gemilang's details, including its number of stripes and colour arrangement, Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said. He noted that this reflects a growing awareness among Malaysians about the importance of respecting the Jalur Gemilang, especially during the National Month celebrations.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi stated that so far, there have been no new complaints, and he has observed that people are becoming more attentive and aware. Many individuals now start counting the number of stripes and checking whether the last stripe is white when they see the Jalur Gemilang. This has turned into a habit where people correct and advise one another. He mentioned this during a media briefing after the Ziarah Kasih programme.

Fahmi also addressed an incident involving an allegedly incomplete Jalur Gemilang displayed in Batu Buruk, Terengganu, and noted that it is under investigation by the authorities. He highlighted a new trend among vehicle owners who are opting for magnetic Jalur Gemilang stickers instead of physical flags to avoid damaging their vehicle paintwork or body. He described this as a positive development, as it is more convenient for vehicle owners.

Regarding preparations for the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations, Fahmi stated that arrangements, including contingent preparations, the Ministry of Education's human graphic performance, and logistics in Putrajaya, are progressing smoothly. A National Day coordination meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, while a virtual meeting on Malaysia Day celebrations is set for August 24.

Fahmi announced two major events planned for Merdeka Eve in the capital. One event at Merdeka Stadium, organised by the Ministry of National Unity, will feature a special address by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Another event at Dataran Merdeka is being organised by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

In addition to these updates, Fahmi, who is also the MADANI Government spokesperson, visited two elderly stroke patients, R. Sathia Devi, 70, at Pangsapuri Kiara, Batu Berendam, and Abu Zarin Nordin, 64, at Kampung Tun Razak, Bukit Katil. The visit aimed to assess the assistance needed by the recipients, including milk supplies, support from the Social Welfare Department, and rehabilitation treatment. Fahmi expressed gratitude to the Information Department for identifying families in need and mentioned plans to follow up with several measures, including alternative treatments such as acupuncture.
