Public Service DG Wan Ahmad Dahlan Appointed MRT Corp Chairman

Kuala lumpur: Public Service Director-General Tan Sri Dr Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz has been appointed chairman of Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp), effective August 13. MRT Corp announced that this strategic appointment comes as the organization enters a significant phase in executing its national rail and urban development mandate.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the organization is advancing several major infrastructure projects, including the Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link and the Penang LRT Mutiara Line. Additionally, MRT Corp is focused on enhancing its capabilities in transit-oriented development, integrated property development, and generating commercial revenue growth.

MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim stated that Wan Ahmad Dahlan brings extensive experience in public administration, governance, and institutional leadership. "His experience will be invaluable as MRT Corp delivers major national infrastructure projects and strengthens its role in advancing Malaysia's mobility and urban development agenda," he said. Wan Ahmad Dahlan's expertise in institutional management and policy implementation is expected to support MRT Corp in strengthening its delivery capabilities and fulfilling its mandate to promote the sustainability of cities and mobility of people.

Wan Ahmad Dahlan has served as Public Service Director-General since January 2024. His career in the Malaysian public service spans over three decades, during which he has held numerous key leadership positions, including Director-General of the Implementation Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister's Department, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Comptroller of the Royal Household at Istana Negara. Beginning his career in the Administrative and Diplomatic Service in 1995, he has served across various ministries and government institutions, gaining extensive experience in public administration, governance, institutional leadership, and policy implementation.

In addition to his role at MRT Corp, Wan Ahmad Dahlan serves as chairman of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia and the Razak School of Government. He also holds board appointments at several organizations, including Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL), the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), and the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN).
