Public Urged To Stay United, Rational Amid Global Energy Crisis

Kuala lumpur: The public has been urged to remain united, think rationally, and prioritize the common good in facing the current global energy crisis following the conflict in West Asia. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan emphasized the importance of understanding the latest measures announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to address the crisis.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Zulkifli Hasan noted that many people have shown rationality and understanding of the current situation, while others continue to offer prayers and support during this challenging time. He mentioned that friends abroad have expressed admiration for Malaysia's approach in managing this crisis. He highlighted that, compared to other countries, Malaysia still enjoys advantages such as energy subsidies.

Earlier today, in a special address, Prime Minister Anwar announced a temporary adjustment to the quota for the Budi MADANI RON95 Programme (BUDI95) from 300 litres to 200 litres per month, effective April 1, as a response to the conflict in West Asia. Despite the adjustment, the subsidized RON95 price will remain at RM1.99 per litre.

The prime minister expressed hope that the public would understand the temporary adjustment, stating that it would remain in place until global oil markets, supply, and the economy stabilize.
