Selangor: Rising vandalism and theft at Selangor pump houses disrupt flood control operations, costing the state government up to RM400,000 in repairs.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Infrastructure and Agriculture Committee chairman Datuk Izham Hashim said the state government had discussed the issue with the Selangor police chief to enhance enforcement and security at the affected facilities.

"I have instructed the relevant agencies, including the Drainage and Irrigation Department and Public Works Department, to strengthen security at these pump houses through measures such as CCTV installation to minimise the impact.

"We have also requested support from the police and security agencies, while exploring other ways to address the situation and improve conditions," he said during the State Legislative Assembly sitting today.

He was responding to a supplementary question from Jefri Mejan (PN-Ijok), who asked about the state government's efforts to strengthen enforcement with police to curb damage and theft of pumps and reduce prolonged flooding incidents.
