Serdang: The purchase limit for 10-kg local white rice priced at RM26 has been raised to five bags per transaction, from two bags previously. Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu announced this change to address consumer demand and support targeted groups, particularly poor household heads.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, as of mid-April, 3.16 million 10-kg bags of local white rice have been distributed through over 47,000 registered retail premises nationwide. States such as Selangor, Kedah, Perak, and Johor have recorded the highest distribution figures. This measure is part of the ministry's efforts to ensure a stable rice supply across the nation.

Mohamad shared these developments during his speech at the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry's (KPKM) Monthly Assembly and Aidilfitri Gathering at Maeps, Serdang today.
