Putra Heights Incident: MMKN Approves List Of Panel Members To Assess Technical Report

Kuala lumpur: The Selangor State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN) has approved a list of individuals to be members of an independent committee to assess the investigation report on the gas pipeline explosion incident that occurred in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, on April 1. Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari stated that the independent panel would include eight individuals, with two representatives from the opposition party in the state, to review and evaluate the technical report following the investigation carried out by the police, the fire department, and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, most of the individuals approved at the MMKN early this month are professionals with specialist qualifications and are from various fields, including policy makers and specialists in slopes, hills, and the oil and gas sector. Selangor State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin is expected to meet with the individuals soon, as informed by Amirudin during a working visit to check on the progress of rebuilding and repairing the houses of victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion in Taman Putra Harmoni and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru.

Amirudin noted that 79 houses in Taman Putra Harmoni were identified for redevelopment under the management of Sime Darby Property. However, only 49 owners or occupants consented to the rebuilding and repair works, while the remaining did not agree to the implementation. Additionally, 120 houses with moderate damage are undergoing repairs, with 86 houses having submitted claims totaling RM3.9 million, and payments for 61 units already settled.

For Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru, Amirudin mentioned that the repair and rebuilding process is being facilitated by Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB). Of the 11 units identified for rebuilding, three have been completed, with the remaining expected to be ready by the end of October. Furthermore, 63 homeowners have submitted claims for repair costs amounting to RM1.7 million, with payments made to 50 of them.
