Kuala lumpur: QSR Brands, in collaboration with Yayasan JCorp, has successfully graduated 37 skilled individuals through the Academy in Industry (ADI) programme, a pivotal initiative aimed at preparing youths for the workforce. This effort, spearheaded by KFC Malaysia, emphasizes hands-on industry experience combined with educational training.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, QSR Brands highlighted that the programme underscores KFC Malaysia's dedication to equipping young people with practical skills needed in the job market. The initiative is viewed as a significant step in creating career opportunities by integrating education with real-world work experience.
Zulkernai Fauzi, the director of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at the Ministry of Education, remarked on the programme's success, noting its potential as a model for collaboration between industry and education sectors. He stated that the programme's integration of practical training and certification is a direction the ministry is keen to expand within Malaysia's educational framework.
Rozaini Mohd Sani, chairman of Yayasan JCorp, expressed that the ADI programme offers young individuals a platform to gain confidence and practical skills, irrespective of their backgrounds. This is seen as a crucial element in preparing them for future challenges in the job market.
Dr. Sharifah Musainah Syed Alwi, the chief human resources officer at QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd, praised the programme's success in fostering a competent workforce. She emphasized that the programme's value lies not just in certification, but in the comprehensive training students receive in real restaurant settings.
The 37 graduates underwent rigorous training at KFC establishments in Johor Bahru, where they were trained in fast food preparation, customer service, and industry compliance. The cohort achieved a 100% pass rate in Vocational Stream Subjects and Malaysian Skills Certificates, with a notable 95% passing the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination.
Each graduate earned multiple qualifications, including the Vocational Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia, SKM Levels 2 and 3, and certificates recognizing their programme completion and achievements. The graduation ceremony also highlighted outstanding students with awards for excellence in various categories.
Launched in June 2023, the ADI programme is a pioneering initiative in Malaysia's quick-service restaurant sector, born from a strategic partnership between KFC Malaysia, the Department of Skills Development, and the Ministry of Education.
