Queen Graces Tea Reception With Sekolah Datin Khadijah Alumni

Kuala kangsar: Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, graced a tea reception with alumni of Sekolah Datin Khadijah, Kuala Kangsar today, attended by about 800 former students.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, upon arrival, Her Majesty was received by Sekolah Datin Khadijah Alumni Organising Committee chairperson Sharifah Muriana Wafa Syed Khalid Wafa and committee members. At the event, Her Majesty watched a video reflecting on the school's history, then mingled and posed for photographs with the alumni.

Sharifah Muriana Wafa stated that the hi-tea was organised to bring together former students from different generations, while also giving them the opportunity to meet the Queen, who is herself an alumna of the school. She mentioned that the target of assembling 800 alumni was reached in about a month, aided by representatives from each alumni group who tracked down former classmates. The majority of those who attended were aged 60 and above, with the oldest participant over 80.

To mark the occasion, the committee produced a commemorative book detailing the school's history, photographs and alumni stories, which took 10 months to complete and was presented to Her Majesty as a souvenir. Raja Zarith Sofiah attended Sekolah Datin Khadijah, Kuala Kangsar from 1966 to 1971, before continuing her secondary education at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Raja Perempuan Kelsom.
