SARIAYA: Emergency services have become more accessible for residents of this town with the municipal government’s purchase of five new ambulances and a pick-up truck for local firefighters.
During Monday’s flag-raising ceremonies and blessing of the vehicles, Mayor Marcelo Gayeta told townsfolk that use of the brand-new ambulances is available for free to patients needing immediate transport to the hospital.
‘Anyone using the ambulance won’t have to spend anything, even for the fuel and the driver’s wages. The services are completely free of charge. Patients will be picked up from their homes, and brought to the hospital and brought home againā¦ for free,’ she said.
In addition to the ambulances, the local government unit has also funded the acquisition of a pick-up truck to help the Bureau of Fire Protection transport personnel and rescue equipment to areas not easily accessible to conventional vehicles.
The town spent PHP10.4 million for the purchase of all six vehicles, Gayeta said.
The municipal gove
rnment now has a total of 16 ambulances to service the medical needs of 43 villages.
Gayeta said the additional vehicles will especially benefit those residing in Sariaya’s remote barangays.
