Kota kinabalu: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several areas in the morning of nomination day for the 17th Sabah state election. The weather conditions are expected to affect various regions, potentially impacting the proceedings of the day.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, areas such as Paitan, Telupid, Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Semporna, Tawau, and Kalabakan are predicted to experience rain. Meanwhile, regions like Kudat, Pitas, and Beluran are anticipated to face thunderstorms. In contrast, Tuaran, Kota Kinabalu, Putatan, Penampang, Tambunan, Beaufort, Membakut, and Kuala Penyu are expected to be cloudy, with Kota Marudu, Kota Belud, Papar, Ranau, Tongod, Nabawan, Keningau, Sook, Sipitang, and Tenom experiencing sunny weather.
Candidates intending to participate in the election will file their nomination papers for 73 state seats tomorrow between 9 am and 10 am. Once their nominations are confirmed, they will engage in a 14-day campaign period, concluding at 11.59 pm on November 28.
A total of 1,784,843 voters, comprising 1,760,417 ordinary voters, 11,697 armed forces personnel and their spouses, and 12,729 police personnel and their spouses, are eligible to vote in this election.
