Arau:The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, held an audience with Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail yesterday.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting was attended by the Raja Perempuan of Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid. During the audience, the Raja of Perlis welcomed DCP Hamzah Hashim, the newly appointed state police chief, noting his extensive experience in specialized and tactical operations as valuable for the state's security.
Hamzah, a native of Perlis, previously served as commander of the VAT 69 Commando unit under the Special Operations Force of the Internal Security and Public Order Department in Ulu Kinta, Perak. His operational experience is anticipated to enhance security along the northern border and improve public order through proactive policing.
Earlier in the day, Mohd Khalid attended the official handover of duties ceremony for the new Perlis Police Chief at the Perlis Contingent Police Headquarters. Hamzah takes over from Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim, who has been promoted to Deputy Director (Operations) of the Internal Security and Public Order Department at Bukit Aman.
