Rajeswari Appointed As National Wage Negotiation Council Deputy Chairman

Kuala Lumpur: Former Industrial Court chairman Rajeswari Karupiah has been appointed as National Wage Negotiation Council (MPGN) deputy chairman from February 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026. The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) announced the appointment today, highlighting Rajeswari's extensive experience in industrial relations law, employment law, and corporate law.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Rajeswari holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of London and is an MCIArb Accredited Mediator. During her tenure as the Industrial Court chairman, she played a significant role in resolving numerous cases, surpassing the stipulated key performance indicator targets. She successfully resolved over 500 cases related to dismissals, restructuring, retrenchments, and collective agreement negotiations.

KESUMA stated that Rajeswari also provided legal advisory services to The World Bank in Washington D.C. and contributed to enhancing Malaysia's labor policies, including the introduction of the minimum wage policy. Her expertise in industrial relations, policy formulation, and corporate governance positions her as a strategic asset for ensuring a strong legal framework, policy innovation, and balancing the interests of workers and employers in line with Malaysia's economic development goals.
