Ramanan Expresses Gratitude to PM Anwar for Addressing Longstanding Housing Issue for Indian Community

Kuala Lumpur: Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for resolving a longstanding housing issue affecting the Indian community in Bestari Jaya, Tanjung Karang after a delay of 27 years. The deputy minister, responsible for overseeing Indian community affairs, acknowledged the Prime Minister's commitment to addressing issues pertinent to the Indian community in the country.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ramanan highlighted the attention the MADANI Government, led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, pays to issues concerning all races, including the Indian community. He conveyed his thanks to both the Prime Minister and the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) for their successful resolution of the housing issue, and extended his appreciation to KPKT Minister Nga Kor Ming for playing a crucial role in realizing this initiative.

Ramanan, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Sungai Buloh, emphasized that the Prime Minister is consistently updated on issues affecting the Indian community and the initiatives undertaken by relevant agencies. The government, through the KPKT, has approved the proposal for the Harmoni MADANI People's Residency Programme (PRR) Bestari Jaya. This development, with an estimated cost of RM75 million, involves a federal government allocation of RM40 million and a Selangor state government allocation of RM35 million.

The project is set to be developed on approximately 8.09 hectares of land provided free of charge by Berjaya Corporation Berhad (BCB) at Ladang Tinggi Estate, and will be implemented by PR1MA Corporation Malaysia. The Harmoni MADANI PPR Bestari Jaya will include 245 single-story homes available for outright sale, equipped with facilities such as kindergartens, nurseries, shops, stalls, a community hall, and children's playgrounds. These homes are intended for 245 families of plantation workers from five plantations: Ladang Mary, Ladang Nigel Gardner, Ladang Bukit Tagar, Ladang Sungai Tinggi Plantation, and Ladang Minyak.

Kuala Kubu Baharu assemblyman Pang Sock Tao remarked that the housing development demonstrates the MADANI Government's prioritization of the people's welfare, despite having been in power for only 26 months. He noted that the realization of the residents' dream was made possible through the close cooperation of the KPKT, the Selangor government, and BCB, setting a precedent for similar projects in the future.
