Rembia: The theme of the Wakil Rakyat Untuk Rakyat (WRUR) programme in the Rembia state constituency will be 'Santuni Rakyat', focusing on the constituents' welfare. Rembia constituency coordinator Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan, who is also the state Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Communications Committee chairman, said that throughout the programme, a total of 530 people from the asnaf (eligible tithe recipients) group, orphans, senior citizens and those in need had been identified to receive various forms of assistance or contributions.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fairul Nizam mentioned that the aid would be channelled through the Melaka Islamic Religious Council (MAIM), the Social Welfare Department (JKM), the Melaka Housing Board (LKM) and the local authority. "Among the welfare programmes that will be implemented are 'ziarah kasih', house repair and the presentation of other forms of assistance to those in need. Efforts to draw close to the people can be viewed as an important mechanism so that all issues, problems or grievances can be attended to and assistance can be channelled directly to them," he told reporters at the Rembia State Assembly Development and Coordination Committee Office (Japerun) here today.
He shared these details after state Tourism, Heritage, Arts and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Razak Abdul Rahman had officiated the opening of the Rembia state constituency WRUR Programme. Fairul Nizam also noted that in conjunction with the National Month, the Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign will be implemented as one of the activities during the WRUR closing ceremony to foster the spirit of patriotism among the people.
He added that Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusof would officiate the programme's closing ceremony at Dataran Keris here on Aug 16. The two-week Rembia state constituency WRUR programme, which began today, has over 150 activities, and Rembia is the seventh location out of 28 constituencies in Melaka.
