Sarawak: The Sarawak Information Department (JAPEN) has issued a call to action for the people of Bumi Kenyalang, urging them to replace their worn and tattered Jalur Gemilang flags with new ones. This initiative aims to boost the spirit of independence as the nation celebrates this year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sarawak JAPEN director Sabri Said emphasized the importance of displaying a neat and clean Malaysian flag, as it symbolizes the people's dedication to preserving the hard-earned peace of the nation. He highlighted the significance of replacing old flags as a reflection of renewed determination and commitment to maintaining the country's independence.
Sabri further noted that the act of flying a fresh Jalur Gemilang demonstrates a shared responsibility among Malaysians to express love for their homeland. He made these remarks during the Jiwa@Komuniti Programme, held in conjunction with the National Day Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 celebration at Tadika Adinda. The event, designed to foster patriotism, featured activities such as flag hoisting, singing independence songs, and coloring activities for parents and kindergarten children.
Moreover, JAPEN Sarawak is advancing the 1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) initiative to encourage more citizens to display the national flag at homes, schools, and offices. Sabri also mentioned the department's commitment to enhancing the 'Info On Wheels' (IOW) initiative across Sarawak to promote the HKHM 2026 celebration within the community.
